Caught inside the crossfire
There’s nowhere left to run
They said it would be easy
They said it would be fun
But yesterday a friend of mine
Became a friend no more
They gathered all the pieces
They found lying on the floor
Caught inside the crossfire
Can’t see no way out of here
Caught in the crossfire
There’s nothing left to cheer
Maybe the time will come
When I can be with you
Maybe a time will come
When all of this will be through
We’re caught in the crossfire, of those from left and right
They say that we have choices, for whom we choose to fight
How can we decide or say, who’s right and who is wrong
Those who know keep lying, the truth we had is gone
Caught inside the crossfire, but who began this game
Caught inside the crossfire, the world has gone insane
Someone there should understand, that someone’s getting hurt
That’s mothers there and children, you see lying in the dirt
How can we sit in silence
How can we choose to ignore
What will we do when there’s nothing left
And how could we walk out the door?
How can we chide the children
When are the ones to blame?
How can we make things better now
How can we ease the pain
Caught inside the crossfire, tween politics and law
We watch it on our TV screens, so easy to ignore
We know the ones we voted for, who told us they were bold
They’re selling lies to all sides now, while counting out their gold
If we could see the future, we surely then would change
All those things we’ve said and done, we’d try to rearrange
There’s time enough to alter, there’s time to make things right
We only have to understand, the answer’s not to fight
How can we sit in silence
How can we choose to ignore
What will we do when there’s nothing left
And how could we walk out the door?
How can we chide the children
When are the ones to blame?
How can we make things better now
How can we ease the pain
